Photomacrography,  3D Stereo  and Other Special Techniques

  • 3D stereo Photomacrography and PhotomicroscopyMar.07

John Hart has made available some very impressive macro images captured with high-speed synchronized flash photography, for both standard (2D flat) and 3D stereo viewing.

There are also polarized light microscopy images in the same viewing formats.

  • Zeiss 'Mikropolychromar' Apr.07

Back in the 1930's, in combination with the Zeiss Aplanatic condenser 1.4NA, this device was part of one of the most versatile illumination systems ever for light microscopists.

Rheinberg illumination is the modern day substitute and is included as part of this review.

  • Ted Clarke Experiments

This website, hosted by  science-info.net, includes publications for a wide range of projects completed by a proficient instrument maker and light microscopist.

There is an emphasis on specialized illumination techniques using readily available optical components.

  • High Resolution Xray MicroscopyMay.07

A discussion of the application of this very specialized technique to advanced imaging for cell biologists, based upon sophisticated software algorithms.

The basic technique is also discussed in relation to light microscopy, and a paper demonstrating lower magnification results is available.

  • Experimental Photomacrography Jul.07

Rik Littlefield has assembled an extensive list of superbly illustrated publications.
These Web publications give detailed descriptions of unique techniques and equipment used for photomacrography, as well as examples of images produced with stacking software (CombineZ and Helicon Focus).

Links to a wide variety of general information, useful to those interested in both photomacroscopy (small subjects) and photomicroscopy (very small subjects), are also available.
